Hospice Program

One of the saddest things I’ve seen in all my years I the cemetery profession are naked graves, graves without a memorial stone. There’s no place to put flowers, no place for loved ones to mourn, and no place to remember somebody who touched a life.

The other reason is a man who touched my life. He wasn’t my dad, he was my coach. Coach was one of the toughest men that I ever met, and though he had a terminal diagnosis he lived longer and better than anyone thought he could. In 2008 he went into hospice. While he fought to breathe, we got to talk and pray. I was overwhelmed and impressed at the care coach received from the hospice team.

During that time, I was struck with how many people, literally from all over the country came back to see coach. Players old enough to be my father, players young enough to be my son, and even kids who had him in gym class he helped get on the right track. Coach was remembered because he touched peoples’ lives; it’s my firm belief that everyone deserves to be remembered because everyone touches a life.

Coach always told me “do the right thing and do it right now!” In honor of his memory I want to make sure that your loved one will be remembered; people who impacted your life like Coach did mine.

Sincerely,

Michael Butts
